Basic plot
The true story of an abandoned, abused little girl who was desperate to be part of a family.
Dawn was sent away to live with relatives in Ireland between the ages of 5 and 9, and Cathy soon realises that the horrors Dawn was exposed to during that time have left her a very disturbed little girl. She is a sweet and seemingly well-balanced girl whose outward appearance masks a traumatic childhood of suffering at the hands of the very people who should have cared for her. (source)
My review (on Visual Bookshelf)
It's sad to know that such a tragic story probably belongs to many children in foster care. A straight forward story, after a while it became a bit repetitive. The writing style was very simplistic without much flair, and this made the story less captivating. All in all a fair read. 3/5
